John Ruff is a Partner at DeHay and Elliston and has been with the firm since 2009. Mr. Ruff is a trial attorney practicing complex civil litigation in the areas of products liability and toxic tort with an emphasis on talc and asbestos personal injury defense. Mr. Ruff has served as National Counsel for clients for well over a decade overseeing litigation throughout the country and handling all aspects of litigation.  Mr. Ruff serves counsel both locally and nationally for a wide variety of different product manufacturers.

Mr. Ruff supervises counsel throughout the United States in his role as National Counsel for clients.  Mr. Ruff has worked on thousands of talc cases and asbestos cases throughout the country.  Mr. Ruff has litigated issues specific to epidemiologic, toxicologic, cell and industrial hygiene analysis.  Mr. Ruff has done extensive work in cases involving intricate geologic and mineralogic concepts, genetics and causation issues.  Mr. Ruff has defended thousands of cases involving various cancers, working closely with worldwide experts in many disciplines and has served as a trusted voice for corporations understanding the variety of needs of corporations facing large volumes of litigation. 

Mr. Ruff was his class Valedictorian in high school and went on to Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ where he graduated with High Honors as a double major. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore School of Law, graduating Magna Cum Laude and earned the legal honor of the Heuisler Honor Society.  Prior to joining DeHay & Elliston, Mr. Ruff had the privilege of serving as the Bill Analyst for the Maryland House Judiciary Committee under Chairman Joseph F. Vallario, Jr. 

Mr. Ruff is an active member of the Bar Association of Baltimore City, the Maryland State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
